Chasm Update 3

Fine Sand and rocks added, first coat of unifying paint applied, though I didn't let it fully dry....

Cliff Faces will be painted next, but its easier to rotate the whole placard up on edge to get to them easier, but the paint wash would dribble all over unless I get patient and let it dry first :)

Chasm Update 2

Top basic rocky formations filled in, though I may add a bit more to it after its had a chance to dry completely.

4 Different shots with Dusty standing in for size comparison. Upper rocks are basically complete, floor of the chasam will stay mainly clean at this time for cutting and placing removeable pieces.  The neat part is that the "distance" across can really be any width you want for measurement purpose, actual is about 8" but for an encounter, the GM could rule that its 24" across etc. Next is some basic paint washes to get a better look at the junctures of the rock resin pieces. Im not filling in every juncture as rocks split and crack all the time.

The Chasm, Update

Got some basic work done on the encounter placard, The Chasm. Had to stop and cast a lot of Rock faces from some Scenic Woodlands moulds, but progress!

In the bottom picture is one side of the Chasm showing where the "entry" way is. Just visible is an opening that at times, cover removed, will be a Cave or Temple doorway, or with a Rock plug I will have for it , it will not be there!

30 Troglodytes, The Start

Cleaned of flash, bases sanded smoother ready for priming:

2 placards of arms, 3 arms provided for each figure to allow some variability, one long stick with doubled tape to hold the torso's upright for priming. And were off and painting!

Encounter Board changed

Looking at the Arid board I did, I was less and less satisfied with the result and added some more "rock" to the scatter:

Much more satisfied with this look, the small dark stone scatter gives the board a bit more visual "depth" I think. So now to spot a bit of dead grass and perhaps a bone or two.

Pulp Figures Progress Update

So ground away at basing and touch up on more figures......

Bases decorated and trouble makers are confined to their holding cell! A snap on lid covers the lot of them to allow for stacking. Discovered 1$ tubs as shown, added magnetic stock to the bottoms and can hold 30 figures on 20mm x 20mm stands easily. Bottom measurement of the tub in not quite 5", but suspect that one inch washer bases could be off set, hex pattern style, to hold 25 figs, have not tried that yet, but Skrapwelder had voiced an interest in the tubs capacity.

Hmmm OMG! All my current Pulp Adventure figures are Finished!!!!!!

The Chasm

Choked out on painting for a bit so time for Terrain Adventure:

12x12 inch floor tile is the base, 3 inch thick styrafoam, former packing material, forms the walls of the chasm so far. Figure is for scale. Hot glued and dabs of white glue secure the foam to the tile. When its dry, time will be right to start shaping and applying resin cast rock section, though I will keep the sides very steep, or it wouldnot be much of a "chasam" heh. Could paing the bottom area with perspective that it goes deeper, but am thinking that the bottom would serve as a deep gully for desert wadi encounters... options..

Heres the upper rough in of the Cliff walls with an approach cut out on the left, the one on the right is just barely visible.  Figuring on a suspended rope bridge with planking...  Out of smooth Kel Seal still.. may use up the textured that I have though for this as its more of a desert / arid setting, or even mountainous..  Hmm... Place some jungle plants, on bases here and there and its location would obviously be in the jungle..!

Different shot of the Chasm from higher up to show some more detail. The gap is definetly wide enough that it cannot be leaped by a mere mortal, so its good enough. Also, the actual "distance" across could be double or triple for the purpose of shooting arcross it by stating the gap is "representational"

Time to back to the Paint table.
