California Gold Rush Mts Terrain

Back from a week in the Sierra Mountains in the gold country of California, the following are pictures of the type of ground cover and trees / rocks typical of the high forest areas that the gold miners worked in and around.

Where ever sunlight is on the ground near the tall trees, brush will grow wild. Small saplings pop up around the base of trees where ever they get even a little light, creating veritable walls of small trees. Visibility was quiet limited and most of the brush was 6 to 8 feet in height.
